Canadian Powersports Blue Book API — terms of use

DRAFT for review by All Seasons Publications Ltd. and its counsel. Not yet in force.

1. What you are licensed to do

Your subscription licenses your organisation to query the API and use the values returned inside your own business processes (lending, underwriting, claims, taxation, retail appraisal). It does not license republishing, reselling, redistributing or bulk extraction of the data, or building a competing valuation product from it.

2. Keys

Each key is issued to one organisation and may not be shared outside it. Keep it as you would a password. Tell us at once if a key is exposed; we will rotate it. Keys carry a per-minute rate limit stated at issue.

3. What the values are

Values are the publisher's editorial opinion of Canadian market value for the edition named on every record, in whole Canadian dollars, exactly as printed. A null means the book prints no value. They are a reference, not an appraisal of a specific vehicle, and carry no warranty of fitness for a particular transaction.

4. Privacy

The API is designed to process no personal information. A VIN is reduced to its model pattern (positions 1–8, 10 and 11) before lookup; the serial portion is neither stored nor logged. We log which key asked which question, when, and which edition answered, for support, billing and security.

5. Availability and changes

We aim for 99.9% monthly availability. Editions change three times a year; the current one is stamped on every record and available at /v4/edition. Endpoint changes that break clients will be announced at least 90 days ahead and served under a new version path.

6. Termination

Either party may end the subscription per its agreement. Keys are revoked on termination.
